Sveinbjörn Sigurðsson ehf. (Ltd) was established in 1942 by Mr.Sveinbjörn Sigurðsson, carpenter/master builder. At first, he only built residential homes but as the company grew and developed the projects became more diverse. Among Sveinbjörn Sigurðsson´s prior projects are swimming pools, bridges, town houses, apartment blocks, day-care centers, educational institutions, various buildings for industrial purposes and commercial complexes.
In 1990, Mr. Sveibjörn Sigurðsson retired and left the operation to his sons, Árni, Sigurður and Sveinbjörn. The company has continued to grow and today it has about 50 employees, in addition to sub-contractors, which brings the total to about 120. Its 2008 net turnover was approximately 2.1 billion, ISK.
